Consumer demand for American whiskey has exploded over the last few years, resulting in a “billion-dollar bourbon boom.” While bourbon has led the surge, other products, including rye whiskey, have also experienced rapid growth. Since both bourbon and rye must be aged in new barrels, the surge in demand has left behind millions of used barrels.
Companies have found creative ways to repurpose these barrels as furnishings, creating a new demand for barrel-themed items. You’ve likely seen a bourbon barrel in a bar or liquor store; however, most people can’t put full-sized barrels in their homes. We developed the idea to package our bottles inside mini-barrels, so that you can now bring a rustic bourbon barrel into your home.
The barrel is also our signature, serving as our promise to provide a consistently good product.
Unlike other young whiskeys, which are typically harsh, Bellis Bourbon and Bellis Rye undergo a second distillation process to remove impurities for a smooth finish. This proprietary process separates out the fusel alcohols from the flavor, color, and aroma, making the whiskey easy to drink.
Fusel alcohols - German for “bad liquor” - are a mixture of several alcohols which are produced as a byproduct of alcohol fermentation. These oils give spirit products a harsh rubbing alcohol taste and may contribute to hangover symptoms. Whiskey is prone to having excessive concentrations of fusel alcohols, but unlike other whiskeys, Bellis products are so smooth, you’ll want a double.
Bellis Bourbon is the product of a 15+ year friendship.
Colin Santacroce is a veteran of two combat tours to Afghanistan in the United States Army. As a scholarship recipient to Syracuse University, Colin tended bar and quickly realized that customers appreciate bourbon with a smooth finish, but few brands could consistently deliver such a product.
Mike Bellis works for a Fortune 500 company in the financial services industry. Mike’s business experience helped turn Colin’s dream of an innovative bourbon product into the reality that is Bellis Bourbon.
When you see the Bellis Bourbon barrel, you can expect a consistently smooth bourbon from the first sip to the last drop.
